alexandria.

ChatGPT already remembers me. What does alexandria. add?

ChatGPT’s memory is for ChatGPT knowing you inside ChatGPT, with nothing to set up. You can keep it and add alexandria., which keeps a record of how you think in files on your own computer that every model you use reads and adds to, running beside ChatGPT’s memory rather than replacing it.

ChatGPT’s memory is already on, asks nothing of you, and follows you wherever you’re signed in, your phone included. It remembers what you tell it and can draw on your past chats, keeps all of it in your OpenAI account, and lets you see it, change it, or switch it off in its settings. If ChatGPT is the only tool you use, that may well be all you need.

What it keeps is made for ChatGPT, so a different tool knows only what you carry across. I built alexandria. so the record lives with you instead, as plain files any model can read, and so it comes with the parts no single app builds: sessions where your model questions your thinking rather than only answering, saving from your phone in one tap, and a connector where your system meets the systems of the people in your life.

Setting up alexandria. leaves ChatGPT’s memory untouched, so it keeps working exactly as before. When you say yes, your model draws it in, either by asking ChatGPT to write out what it remembers or from ChatGPT’s own data export, which it keeps as readable conversations in your files. On your computer, Codex, OpenAI’s coding app, reads and writes the same record that Claude Code and Cursor do.

Show the blueprint to your model, and it’ll tell you what you’re missing, if anything.
